AutoDos. Windows, Linux, MacOS
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
AutoDOS
Now available on Windows, Linux, and MacOS
AutoDOS is a lightweight personal DOS game launcher built on DOSBox Staging. Add a game archive and AutoDOS will extract it, identify the correct launcher, and drop you straight into the game. If it can't determine the right file automatically, it presents the full list and lets you pick , so every game gets a path to running, one way or another.
Features
- Supports ZIP, 7Z, and RAR archives via bundled 7-Zip
- Automatic executable detection across EXE and BAT launchers with intelligent scoring , setup files, sound utilities, and OS-level wrappers are filtered out automatically. When detection is ambiguous, a picker lets you manually select the correct launcher from the full list
- ExoDOS database integration with fuzzy matching, cycles, memory, and compatibility settings are applied silently when a match is found. For unrecognized games, settings default to a reasonable starting point and can be adjusted manually
- Per-game settings editor with live ExoDOS search, so you can look up and apply the correct settings for any game in the database even if it wasn't matched automatically
- Right-click context menu for changing executables or removing games
- Persistent game library stored locally
Credits
Game compatibility data is sourced from the ExoDOS collection, one of the most comprehensive DOS game preservation projects available. Without their work cataloguing cycles, memory requirements, and compatibility settings for thousands of DOS titles, AutoDOS would be a much less capable tool. If you use and enjoy DOS games, their collection is worth your time.
